When Scoping Made Affordable (SMA) began, it
never anticipated that students from the other scoping
training programs would ask for additional training
through SMA.  That is why the Scoping Intern Program
(SIP) was developed, because there was a need.

For the scopists who have completed another training
program, you will be in good company when you join
the SIP and receive the one-on-one instruction
provided by SMA to help you understand where you
are making mistakes in learning your editing skills.

As an educator, I know that you have to learn the skill
and put it into application in order to know that you
have mastered it.  SIP does exactly that with direct
feedback.

Developing scoping skills is tough work!!
If you are new to the scoping field, please know that you are not alone.
There are so many things to learn and master.
I was once in your shoes after receiving what I was "told" was scoping training and had
to crawl and scrape my way through my first year.  My greatest desire is for no one else
to have to experience that.
Feel free to contact me at drscoping@gmail.com if you are struggling.  I will
personally
do whatever I can to help you become successful soon.
Why do court reporters want their
            work checked with audio?

I have a lot of respect for court reporters
because they are under a lot of pressure to take
the spoken word down correctly.  Since most of
us speak at a rapid pace, oftentimes changing
directions midway -- as I have just done -- their
fingers and brain have to work together to take
it all down.
Most court reporters who know their physical
limitations do require a scopist to scope with
audio because they want their work to be as
accurate and clearly understood as possible.
Their audio is not a crutch.  It simply helps
them to do their job in the best manner possible.
Computer Safety conference calls
are held on a quarterly basis.

conference calls that SMA
provides to its students and
to the public.

English Guide for Court Reporters
The newest edition for this book will be
released in 2010.

During the month of March, we will be
spending time ahead of the conference call to
practice our scoping skills and then bring those
changes up during the conference call.
This kind of training is one of the favorite parts of
the scoping students and interns.
Don't miss this!!
